‘World’s Hairiest Girl’ Has Completely Shaven Her Face

Once known as “The World’s Hairiest Girl,” a young woman named Supatra “Natty” Susuphan, has embraced a new chapter in her life where she regularly shaves away the excess hair from her body. She now openly shares joyful photos with her new partner, reflecting a fresh, confident outlook.

Supatra, a spirited 23-year-old, hails from Bangkok, Thailand, and lives with a rare genetic condition known as Ambras Syndrome or Werewolf Syndrome. This condition, a form of hypertrichosis, leads to unusually excessive hair growth.

This rare condition causes thick hair to grow on her face, ears, arms, legs, and her back. Historically, since the Middle Ages, only about 50 people have been recorded to have this genetic anomaly. In earlier times, individuals with such features were often labeled as “werewolves,” casting them into social margins.

The world took notice of Supatra’s unique appearance when, in 2010, Guinness World Records officially recognized her as the world’s hairiest girl. Despite undergoing laser treatments hoping to reduce her hair growth, the treatment had limited success, leading her to adopt regular shaving of her entire body instead.

Reflecting upon her school days, Supatra recalls enduring teasing and name-calling, terms like Wolf Girl and Chewbacca being common. Yet, unwavering support from her family and friends always aided in reinforcing her self-esteem. In a candid remark to the Guinness World Records, she expressed, “I don’t feel any different to anyone else, and I’ve got lots of friends at school. Being hairy makes me special. There were a few people who used to tease me, but they don’t do it anymore. I’m very used to this condition. I can’t feel the hair as it has always been like this. I don’t feel anything. It does sometimes make it difficult to see when it gets long. I hope I will be cured one day.”

Despite the trials imposed by her condition, Supatra’s personal life has been lively and fulfilling. Back in 2018, press outlets such as Metro and the Daily Mail shared stories of her marrying her then “love of her life.” Although they are no longer together, Supatra seems to have found affection anew with a different companion.

Supatra, a young woman full of life, often shares her journey with her followers online. For several years now, she has been publishing pictures of her smooth, hair-free face along with pictures of her new partner, Suchada Poonlumpao. In December 2022, she marked their five-month relationship anniversary by sharing heartwarming photos without any facial hair, alongside Poonlumpao. The digital footprint leading up to this occasion is replete with delightful photos and moments of the couple radiating affection together.

Poonlumpao, equally expressive, has shared numerous romantic photos on Facebook as well, painting a picture of love and companionship. Although the story of how they crossed paths and what led to her separation from her previous partner isn’t widely known, Supatra and Suchada’s profiles on social media state they are in a “domestic partnership.”
