President Donald Trump recently marked a significant milestone, celebrating 20 years of marriage with First Lady Melania Trump. On January 22, 2025, the couple observed two decades of matrimony, with President Trump sharing a heartfelt message and a cherished memory from their wedding day on the social media platform X.

The photo, a beautiful throwback from their nuptials, was accompanied by Trump’s warm words, “Happy 20th Anniversary to Melania!” This sentiment reflects their enduring relationship, highlighted both during his presidency and through years of public attention.

Even before stepping into the limelight as a political figure, Donald Trump was a prominent media personality. His achievements as a businessman and the success of the reality TV series, The Apprentice, made him a household name well before his presidency.

On taking a trip down memory lane regarding Donald and Melania Trump’s relationship, we reminisce how Melania Knauss, originally hailing from Slovenia, crossed paths with Donald Trump at a vibrant New York Fashion Week party back in 1998.

At the time they met, Trump was still separated from his second wife, Marla Maples, and was attending the event with another companion. In a 2016 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Melania reflected on their initial encounter, noting, “He wanted my number, but he was with a date, so of course, I didn’t give it to him.” Despite this, Melania chose to reach out a few days later, establishing the connection that would bloom into romance.

After finalizing his divorce from Maples, Trump and Melania officially began their courtship. In an unexpected and grand moment during the Met Gala in 2004, Trump proposed marriage to Melania. She recounted the proposal as “a great surprise” during an interview with the New York Post.

Melania and Trump’s wedding took place on January 22, 2005, in Palm Springs, Florida, differing in its grandeur and extravagance. Their lavish reception unfolded at the Mar-a-Lago estate, a significant property closely associated with the Trump family.

The couple welcomed their son, Barron, in March 2006, solidifying their family bond. Barron remains their only child together. Throughout Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Melania stood by him, supporting his endeavors in a very public role. However, following his election victory, Melania and Barron chose to remain in New York City temporarily, waiting to relocate to the White House. Their move was delayed until Barron’s school year ended in June 2017, placing family priorities first amid significant life changes.
