Veteran broadcaster Megyn Kelly did not hold back when she expressed her thoughts on Robert De Niro’s recent comments about America. During her discussion on “The Megyn Kelly Show,” she confidently stated that De Niro’s remarks were “colossally stupid.” She touched upon De Niro’s history of political activism, pondering on its real-world effectiveness.
Reflecting on her experiences at Fox News, Kelly recounted a memorable interview where De Niro first openly criticized Donald Trump during his election race against Hillary Clinton. “We had Robert De Niro on camera in a unique rant about the former president,” Kelly reminisced. “It was the first time he candidly shared his political opinions, and we were the ones to broadcast that.”
During her show, Kelly cast doubt on De Niro’s influence, citing his failure to prevent Trump’s victory in the 2016 elections. “If he couldn’t sway minds in 2016, what makes him think he can now?” she questioned.

Her comments were sparked by a press conference where De Niro voiced his affection and concerns for his city. “I love this city,” De Niro passionately declared. “I don’t want to destroy it. But they could obliterate not just the city but the entire country, and eventually, the world.”
In her response, Kelly did not beat around the bush, branding De Niro’s perspective as “colossally stupid.” She opined that someone addressing a politically charged audience should be a beloved figure across the board—something she believes De Niro is not, due to his distinct partisan views.
Kelly characterized De Niro as the epitome of “Trump derangement syndrome,” drawing attention to her viewpoint that his vocal political ideals reduce his effectiveness as a spokesperson on such grand stages.
