In a heartbreaking incident, a medical jet crashed into a residential neighborhood in Philadelphia, carrying six people on board including a young patient. This unfortunate event occurred just days after another plane crash involving American Airlines.
Carrying a Critical Young Patient
The ill-fated jet was transporting a child patient, her mother, and four crew members. All six passengers hailed from Mexico. Sadly, this tragic journey was meant to return the girl from her medical treatment in Philadelphia to her home in Mexico.
According to spokesperson Shai Gold from Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, which operates the flight, “The incident comes as a shock. Every necessary maintenance is diligently carried out because these missions are critical.”
A Tragic Occurrence
Tragically, the jet plummeted just thirty seconds into its flight, bursting into flames and impacting several homes. The rescue mission’s final destination was initially set for Tijuana, with a planned stop in Missouri.
The aircraft was a Learjet 55, it vanished from radar shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport at around 6:06 PM, reaching an altitude of 1,600 feet. Regrettably, the crash occurred near Roosevelt Mall, in the Rhawnhurst residential area.
Authorities, including the FAA, have confirmed that they are investigating the crash, which they currently believe resulted in no survivors.

The Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) issued a statement: “A Learjet 55 crashed around 6:30 p.m. local time on Friday, Jan. 31. Six persons were aboard the plane, en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri. Both the FAA and NTSB will investigate, with the NTSB leading and providing updates.”

Pennsylvania Governor, Josh Shapiro, in a late Friday news conference, acknowledged the severity of this disaster: “The grim reality is that we foresee losses will be suffered.”
