Grimes Comments on Elon Musk’s Alleged ‘Nazi Salute’ Controversy

Grimes has spoken out following accusations against Elon Musk, the father of her children, regarding an alleged ‘Nazi gesture’ at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

Elon Musk, 53, was among the high-profile individuals present in Washington on January 20, lending support to President Trump.

During the event, Trump, 78, took the oath for one of the world’s most influential positions, delivering a thirty-minute speech outlining his plans as the new leader.

The event was overshadowed by controversy when Musk was accused of making a ‘Nazi salute’ on stage during the inauguration parade.

Elon Musk’s behavior on stage was a mix of excitement and enthusiastic gestures, including his vision of planting an American flag on Mars. At one point, he expressed gratitude to the audience for Trump’s election, pounding his fists on his chest before raising his hand skyward in a manner criticized by some.

He then turned away to repeat the motion towards the US flag.

In his address, he stated: “My heart goes out to you. It is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured.”

CNN anchor Erin Burnett commented on Musk’s actions: “Standing ovation for Elon Musk. By far the biggest reception of the day. You saw him come out with that odd-looking salute.” Her colleague Kasie Hunt echoed this sentiment, noting that the gesture was reminiscent of historical events and unusual for American rallies.

Viewers voiced their opinions on Musk’s own platform, X, with one person commenting: “Elon Musk just did a Nazi salute on national television.” Another reacted: “THERE’S NO WAY ELON MUSK DID A SIEG HEIL AT TRUMP’S INAUGURATION.”

The Anti-Defamation League identifies a Nazi salute as ‘raising an outstretched right arm with the palm down.’

Previously, Musk expressed political views on X in May 2022, stating: “In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.”

In the same thread, someone described the incident as “a dirty tricks campaign.” Musk responded to this with an old tweet: “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.” An X user criticized the Nazi accusations, to which Musk reluctantly agreed, “Yeah exactly 🥱.”

Grimes, his former partner and mother of three of his children, responded to a fan who considered removing a tattoo of her as a result of the controversy.

She stated: “It is unhealthy that people are this upset when I have not even been online yet today and am only just learning about this controversy now.”

Grimes and Musk’s relationship spanned from 2018 to 2022.

To distance herself from the situation, she asserted: “It’s absurd that someone can be this cancelled for something their ex did before they even heard it happened. I am not him. I will not make a statement every time he does something. I can only send love back into a world that is hurting.”

She further shared her feelings, writing: “I promise you it doesn’t feel good to be hated all the time for things I don’t even know about, cannot predict, and cannot control.”

Grimes added: “I also chose this path, I accept it. I make the best of it, and I simply wish happiness and health to all.”

Quite an extraordinary situation…
