Curtis Jones Shares His Thoughts on Mo Salah and Eden Hazard
In a recent discussion, Curtis Jones expressed admiration for former Chelsea star Eden Hazard, which raised eyebrows, especially among Liverpool fans. Despite acknowledging Hazard’s skill, Jones was clear about his preference for Mohamed Salah as a teammate.

Both Salah and Hazard have left remarkable imprints on the Premier League. Salah has become a crucial player for Liverpool since joining in 2017, securing an impressive 232 goals and contributing to several major victories, including the Premier League title, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and more.
In contrast, Hazard made his mark at Chelsea, helping them secure two Premier League titles and two Europa League victories. Both players shared the field briefly before Salah departed Chelsea in early 2015.
Hazard’s career took a downturn after his move to Real Madrid in 2019, and he has since retired from professional football. Nonetheless, Jones surprised many by stating that, as a pure footballer, he considered Hazard superior to Salah.
During a chat with Rio Ferdinand, Jones was asked about his football idols. After mentioning greats like Zinedine Zidane and Steven Gerrard, he shared his admiration for Hazard.
“For me, Hazard was the one,” Jones told TNT Sports. “Though comparisons with Salah are natural, as someone who loves the game, Hazard had a style that captivated me. As a player, I’d say Hazard was better. But when choosing a teammate, you’d go for Salah because of his incredible goals and assists.”
Yet, Jones wanted to clarify his stance. While Hazard inspired him growing up, he would undoubtedly choose Salah as a teammate. On social media, Jones shared a friendly photo of himself with Salah, captioned with: “The one I’d rather have in my team.”
Since breaking into Liverpool’s first team during their 2019/2020 title-winning season, Jones has become a staple in the squad, appearing 26 times across all competitions this year.
While acknowledging Hazard’s quality, Jones pointed out that Hazard never matched Salah’s scoring prowess. The Belgian’s best season saw him net 21 goals, significantly less than Salah’s best.
Currently, Salah is having another outstanding season and may be nearing the end of his time at Anfield. His 21 goals have been instrumental in propelling Liverpool to the forefront of the Premier League and Champions League.
In the world of football broadcasting, Sky has introduced a remarkable offer, dramatically reducing the cost of its Essential TV and Sky Sports package. This deal offers a whopping 1,400 live matches, covering leagues such as the Premier League and the EFL.
