Amber Heard has surprised her fans with a personal revelation.

The actress, renowned for her performances in films like Aquaman and The Rum Diary, as well as her high-profile divorce and legal battle with Johnny Depp, is also celebrated for her candor when it comes to her private life.

In a revealing chat with AfterEllen, Amber, aged 38, decided to open up publicly. Later, she discussed how this decision influenced her career.

She expressed, ‘…I can’t be a part of the problem. I dislike the idea of labels as much as anyone else, but I’m with whom I’m with, I love who I love, and if anything, I am a better actress than I was yesterday. My personal life should not impact that.’

At the time, Amber was in a relationship with Tasya van Ree. She jokingly mentioned, ‘She’s so beautiful. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go out with her!’

In a later conversation with Glamour, Amber shared, “I just answered honestly. The look on this person’s face told me it was a big deal.”

She continued, “My poor publicist. It was then I realized the significance of what I had done and understood why so many choose to remain silent.”

Amber observed, “I found myself in a unique position with a special responsibility. So, I took the plunge.”

Facing a common question, she noted, “As a leading lady, there’s a certain amount of wish fulfillment. I was asked, ‘How will anyone invest in you romantically if they think you’re unavailable?’”

Her response was bold: “Watch me prove them wrong.”

Amber emphasized, “Now, I stand with many of my fellow romantic leading ladies who are openly fluid. We are many now, and we are working.”

In her view, “If our aim is to reflect the world around us, the essence of storytelling and reaching audiences should be about challenging the status quo, about breaking new ground. Meeting the status quo isn’t enough. We have a unique opportunity to make changes. We should be actively striving to do this.”
