It is with heavy hearts that we remember the life of Ace Patton Ashford, the talented and passionate rodeo star from Lott, Texas. At just 18 years old, Ace tragically passed away on August 12th due to injuries sustained from being dragged by a horse. His loss has deeply saddened the rodeo community and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ace’s love for rodeo began at a young age, and he dedicated countless hours honing his roping skills. As an active member of the Texas High School Rodeo Association, he showcased his talent and grit to fellow competitors and rodeo enthusiasts alike. His determination and hard work earned him a scholarship to Hill College, where he was excited to join the Rodeo Team in the upcoming fall.

On that fateful day, Ace was working with a sick calf when a nearby horse became spooked. In a tragic turn of events, his leg became tangled, and the horse dragged him across an open field. First responders arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, Ace succumbed to his head injuries.

Troy Ashford Farmers Insurance, on behalf of the Ashford family, expressed their profound grief in a heartfelt tribute on Facebook. They painted a picture of Ace as an incredible young man, known for his humility and kindness. As a recent high school graduate, Ace’s future was full of promise and potential. The loss of Ace is mourned not only by his family but also by the entire community.

The Team Roping Journal also paid tribute to Ace, describing him as an old soul who left this world far too soon. The rodeo family and all those who knew him are united in their sorrow over the loss of this young cowboy.

Ace is survived by his loving parents, his sister and her fiancé, his brother, and his girlfriend, Sydney Boatright. Their hearts ache with grief, as they navigate life without their beloved son, brother, and boyfriend.

Ace Patton Ashford, though his time on this earth was cut tragically short, leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. His passion for rodeo, his dedication to honing his roping skills, and his warm and humble nature have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of crossing his path.

Rest In Peace, Ace. You will forever be remembered and cherished by the rodeo community, your family, and all those whose lives you touched.
