Even when Duck Dynasty came to an end, Jase and Missy Robertson continued to share their family with the world. Their youngest child, daughter Mia, who was born with a cleft lip and palate, is frequently the subject of updates from them.

Mia, who is now 17 years old, has had numerous surgeries as a result of her illness. She endured what Missy referred to as “the most extensive surgery she’s ever had” on Wednesday, March 17.

Mia, then ten, came to her parents in 2014 and asked how they might help other kids with cleft lips and palates. As a result, they started the nonprofit Mia Moo Fund with that specific goal in mind.

A post from January 31 on the Mia Moo Instagram describes the specifics of Mia’s most recent surgery. It was necessary to break her upper and lower jaws on opposite sides in order for them to “meet in the middle.”

The article stated, “This surgery is in hopes that Mia’s teeth and jaws will work normally in terms of chewing and speaking because her upper jaw stopped growing some years ago. She will also look extremely differently after healing.

Missy and Jase asked their followers to remember Mia in their prayers the day before her major surgery.

“We appreciate your continued support for our family and your prayers for Mia’s well-being and prosperity. We are extremely fortunate to have so many people who love her,” Missy wrote. She stated that Mia’s surgery was scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM and last for around five hours.

Fortunately, Missy and Jase were both able to see Mia at the hospital on the day of her procedure. Jase has provided a few updates on Mia’s condition while Missy has been silent on social media.

Jase stated in an earlier post that Mia’s operation started at 11:45 AM, a little later than anticipated. He claimed Mia told jokes to the physicians and nurses and didn’t show any stress during the procedure. Jase reaffirmed Missy’s earlier statement that Mia’s surgery would “take a long while.”

Jase afterward joined in with yet another update. And it’s got wonderful news in it!

Jase reported that Mia is recovering well from the six-hour procedure. He posted a picture of him and Missy visiting with Mia just before her operation and said, “We got to see Mia and, true to form, she is hanging tough after a 6-hour surgery.”

In the ICU, Mia is currently dozing off “as planned.” It is encouraging to hear that the doctors “feel really good about the procedure,’” as Jase stated.

He thanked all of his followers for remembering Mia in their prayers as he concluded his post. He exclaimed, “As Christians, we feel God’s presence and know His might is at work.”
