A Stunning Makeover That Defied Time
As a state representative in North Dakota, Mary Johnson dedicated her time and energy to keeping the city of Fargo running smoothly. But she felt that her appearance didn’t quite reflect her accomplishments. That’s when she decided to take a leap and seek the expertise of Christopher Hopkins, also known as the Makeover Guy, a master in creating magical transformations.
In 2019, Mary Johnson, then 60 years old, ventured into Christopher Hopkins’ salon in North Dakota. Hopkins, a genius stylist and author of the book “Staging Your Comeback: A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45,” was ready to work his magic on Johnson, a former member of the North Dakota House of Representatives.
Mary Johnson had specific requests for her new look. “No purple, no blue, none of that,” she told Hopkins as she sat in his chair at the salon. She wanted a style that would reflect both her professional and personal goals and, most importantly, surprise her husband, David.
With his expert hands, Hopkins transformed Mary’s appearance, shedding decades from her face. He trimmed her hair into a style that beautifully framed her freckled face and added a touch of red, blending her natural gray with blonde highlights to bring out her bright eyes. The result was simply jaw-dropping.
When the makeover was revealed, Mary Johnson looked absolutely stunning, with a fresh face of natural-looking makeup and perfectly coiffed hair. Another client of Hopkins, who was passing by off-screen, couldn’t believe her eyes and estimated Mary’s age to be around 42. Mary, beaming with happiness, revealed that 42 was about “20 years ago.”
Excited to show her husband, Mary headed to the room where David anxiously awaited her arrival. Would he recognize her? The answer was a resounding no. As Mary approached him, David’s jaw dropped to the ground, and he couldn’t help but exclaim, “WOW!” He confessed that he initially thought she was a different woman. He couldn’t take his eyes off his gorgeous wife.
Mary couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. “I feel great,” she exclaimed. “I couldn’t feel better. It just exceeded everything I thought possible. You guys didn’t have much of a canvas to work with, but Holy Moly, what a great job!”
