Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015; she went into remission two years later, but her disease returned to stage 4 in 2020.

Shannen Doherty has updated her fans on how she is doing.

Doherty joined Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory, and Drew Fuller on a Charmed panel hosted by Breanne L. Heldman at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut.

When asked how she was, Doherty responded, “Thank you for making me feel so good! … This crowd is incredible!”

She also discussed her Charmed character Prue Halliwell, who appeared in the first three seasons, and how she relates to Prue’s power throughout the panel.

“Prue was a fiercely independent woman. I was a powerful woman. I portrayed her as such. And I believe that made a lasting influence on many of the younger ladies who watched the show, to grow up with that kind of inner strength and to help and care for their family, “Doherty explained. “We’re very much about empowering women, both in and out of the show.”

The cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 also appeared at the second annual 90s Con, with Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestley, and Rebecca Gayheart fielding questions about the 1990s adolescent drama. (Doherty was only seen on the Charmed panel.)

The actress, 51, has spent the previous few years undergoing stage 4 breast cancer chemotherapy.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015; she went into remission two years later, but her disease returned to stage 4 in 2020.

Doherty has made it a point to chronicle her cancer treatments’ good, bad, and ugly since revealing in 2020 that the disease had returned the previous year.

“Is everything lovely? No, but it’s true, and I hope that by sharing, we may all become more educated and familiar with what cancer looks like.” In October 2021, she posted on Instagram. “I hope I’ve inspired people to get mammograms, to have regular exams, to cut through the dread, and confront whatever is ahead.”

Doherty has stated that she feels “a responsibility” to dispel cancer myths.

“I feel like I have a responsibility in my more public life, which I separate from my acting life… to talk about cancer and possibly educate people more and let people know that people with stage 4 are very much alive and very active,” she said during a virtual panel for her film List of a Lifetime.

“My husband says you’d never guess I have cancer,” Doherty, who has been married to photographer Kurt Iswarienko since 2011, added. “I rarely complain. I don’t discuss it. At this point, it’s just a part of life.”

The Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut, will host the second annual 90s Con from March 17 to 19. Additional information is available here.
