Ed Sheeran had a terrible year in 2022, dealing with the death of his best friend, Jamal Edwards, and the disturbing news that his wife, Cherry Seaborn, had been diagnosed with a tumor while expecting.

In a new interview, the Subtract hitmaker stated that he, too, has struggled with his health, revealing that he had contracted Covid at least seven times.

The father of two, who has Lyra, two, and Jupiter, eight months, with Cherry, revealed that he’d caught the virus so many times due to “continuous travel and the kids” but is now living a healthy lifestyle, which will hopefully keep him in top shape for his following tour dates.

The 32-year-old explained his trim body by saying he spends an hour of weightlifting every day and has stopped drinking hard liquor. Still, he has suffered from food difficulties after comparing himself to fellow pop singers such as Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes.

“‘Why don’t I have a six-pack?’ I think. ‘Well, because you enjoy kebabs and drink beer,’ I said. Afterward, you collaborate with Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes on tunes. All of these people have incredible physiques. And I’d always wonder, ‘Oh, why am I so… fat?’”

He added that he had bulimia and would find himself “gorging, and then it would come up again.”

“I have a serious eating issue,” he admits. “I’m a major binge eater. I binge-watch everything. Yet I’ve evolved into a binge exerciser.”

Happily, Ed is feeling well now, and Cherry is recovering well from her tumor, which was removed after the birth of their second daughter Jupiter in May 2022.
