After 12 years and nine triumphs, Blake Shelton’s time on The Voice is coming to an end. In an Instagram post back in October 2022, he announced that season 23 would be his last. Shelton expressed his gratitude for the show, stating, “This program has altered my life for the better in every manner, and it will always feel like home to me.”

Shelton’s journey on The Voice has been quite a ride, with countless chair turns and memorable moments. As he bids farewell, he takes the opportunity to thank everyone involved in the show – the producers, the writers, the musicians, the crew, and even the catering staff. To him, they are the greatest.

When The Voice began, Shelton was an assistant coach alongside Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green. He worked closely with Levine until his departure in season 16. Since then, the show has seen various performers taking their places, including Nick Jonas, Shakira, and Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, whom he met through the program.

As Shelton exits The Voice, he plans to focus on spending quality time with his family, especially his wife, Gwen Stefani, and her children. They have done a lot of traveling and touring throughout their lives, and now they are ready to embrace a more relaxed lifestyle. Shelton humorously describes it as throwing on his sweatpants at 6 p.m. and watching their favorite show, Ozark. Family is a priority for him now, and he doesn’t want to have any regrets about missing out on those precious moments.

In addition to cherishing his family time, Shelton is considering his next steps in his music career. Music is something he cannot do without, and he is amazed by the talent and creativity of the younger generation of country artists. With the country music scene evolving rapidly, Shelton is excited to explore different possibilities and create the kind of music that truly resonates with him.

Leaving The Voice was not an easy decision for Shelton, as the show played a significant role in his career. It was a platform that propelled him to new heights and surpassed his own expectations. During an interview with Today, Shelton admitted that he had thought about leaving in 2020, especially with the challenges brought about by COVID-19.

However, he didn’t want to leave the show during such a difficult time and wanted to wait until things returned to normal. The Voice has truly changed the course of Shelton’s life and career.

As Shelton looks ahead, he is grateful for the opportunities The Voice has given him, but feels it’s time to move on. He’s excited to see what the future holds and is open to new possibilities. For now, he’s happy to take a break from the show and focus on his music, without worrying about what comes next. And if that means doing nothing for a while, he’s perfectly fine with it.
