It’s incredibly challenging to see someone you care about struggling with something that used to bring them so much joy. Whether it’s personal interests or businesses, they can suddenly fall into a downward spiral, and unfortunately, it’s not always easy to help our loved ones recover from such setbacks. However, in the case of Giselle Aviles and her father, their story took an unexpected turn.

Giselle, a 21-year-old from Texas, deeply appreciates the hard work her father, Elias, has dedicated to his business. Elias has been in the food industry for many years and even ran a restaurant along with other family members. However, during the financial crisis in 2008, they lost their brick and mortar establishment. Undeterred, Elias decided to start a Mexican street taco truck, determined to keep their family legacy alive.

For a while, the truck thrived, but Giselle’s concern grew when her dedicated father shared that the business was not doing as well as before. On most days, he would only report making between $20 and $60.

However, it was one particular day that triggered a turning point. Elias returned from a long day of work with a meager $6. Giselle couldn’t help but feel the weight of disappointment and frustration. She decided to take matters into her own hands and turned to Twitter for help.

Giselle posted a plea on Twitter, accompanied by a photo of their taco truck named “Taqueria El Torito” and its location in Humble, Texas. Her heartfelt message read, “Hey Twitter! I wouldn’t normally do this, but my dad’s taco truck business is struggling, he only sold $6 today! If you could retweet, I would appreciate you so much!!”

Little did they know that their lives were about to change. The tweet gained immediate traction, with thousands of retweets flooding in. Giselle had faith that people would rally behind her father, urging him to prepare for an influx of customers when they reopened the truck.

To Elias’ astonishment, when he arrived to open the truck at 8 A.M., there were already dozens of people eagerly waiting nearby. Some had even lined up as early as 6 A.M. The response was overwhelming. The truck had to temporarily close twice, first to restock and then because they completely sold out of food. Giselle herself joined her father to help keep up with the influx of orders.

That day, they served over 100 customers before closing an hour early. The following days remained just as busy, prompting Giselle to express her gratitude on Twitter. “Hey everyone! We are overwhelmed with joy from all the response and support we’ve been receiving,” she tweeted. “It’s amazing what social media can do!!”

Giselle also shared that they were now looking to hire more workers due to the increased business. The swift turnaround left Elias stunned, as he had never anticipated such a tremendous response. Giselle, touched by the outpouring of support, said, “It feels amazing because I was just trying to help him. Just being able to do something that’s going to give him business right now, that’s going to get him known.”

We are truly inspired by the incredible bond shared between Giselle and her father. This heartwarming story showcases the power of a simple tweet in bringing people closer and making a positive impact on their lives.
