Dolly Parton is well-known for her wonderful singing, her exuberant attitude and helpful spirit, and, of course, her lovely appearance. She once remarked, “It takes a lot of money to look this cheap.” Despite the fact that we think she always looks like a million bucks! But what is the country singer’s secret to remaining so fit?

You’ve probably heard of the Dolly Parton Diet, which consists of eating cabbage soup (yep, cabbage soup!) as one of your primary meals, along with fruits and vegetables. The Cabbage Soup Diet is another name for the TWA Stewardess Diet.

The Washington Post reported in 1996 that the eating plan might help people lose “10 to 17 pounds in a week.” That’s quite daring! Obviously, severely restricting oneself would result in weight loss, but we’re not sure it’s healthy – or worth tolerating the pungent flavor.

But the real question is whether Dolly used the eponymous diet to lose weight. According to a 2015 Vanity Fair article, she said, “I thought I might as well see if I can lose weight on my own diet,” despite acknowledging she had nothing to do with it being named after her.

The Post discovered an article showcasing “TJ’s Miracle Soup” while hunting for the diet’s origins — the TJ in question was a member of Dolly’s band who had first recommended it to her. However, the singer’s representatives responded with denials and “no comment” at the time.

All indications point to her at least attempting the diet. After all, “I tried every diet in the book, as well as some that weren’t.” One of her most amusing lines is, “I tried eating the book — it tasted better than most diets!”

But, in any event, we believe it is best to stay with healthier (and tastier) weight loss solutions than the dubious Dolly Parton Diet.
