Several families in Wyoming are grappling with unimaginable grief as they mourn the loss of three talented student athlete swimmers from the University of Wyoming. Carson Muir, Charlie Clark, and Luke Slabber, all members of the university’s swim team, tragically lost their lives in a devastating highway crash in Colorado.

The fatal crash took place on Thursday, February 22, just before 2:45 pm on Highway 287 north of Fort Collins. The Toyota Rav4 carrying Muir, Clark, Slabber, and two others veered off the road while traveling southbound toward Fort Collins. Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle swerved to avoid a slowing car. The accident is currently under investigation, and authorities have not ruled out factors such as speed and distractions as potential causes.

While the university mourns the loss of these promising athletes, two other members of the men’s swimming and diving team, including the driver of the vehicle, were involved in the crash but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
