When it comes to family time on the golf course, Tiger Woods knows how to make it special. Recently, the 16-year-old daughter of the golfing legend, Sam, stepped into the role of his caddy for the very first time. This special moment took place during the PNC Championships at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando.
Usually, Woods plays alongside his 14-year-old son, Charlie, in family tournaments. However, having his eldest child, Sam, join him as his caddy brought a new level of joy and excitement to their golf tradition. With a smile on her face, Sam diligently carried her father’s golf bag and even drove him to the next hole in a golf cart.
Tiger Woods, who is 47 years old, couldn’t have been prouder of his daughter’s performance. Speaking to GolfWeek, he expressed his emotions, saying, “Sam was fantastic. This is the first time she’s ever done this, so it couldn’t have been any more special for all of us. For me to have both of my kids inside the ropes like this and participating and playing and being part of the game of golf like this, it couldn’t have been more special for me.”
This tournament setting provided a unique experience for the Woods family. It surpassed their usual playful banter during family golf outings at home. Tiger Woods, typically a caddy himself, often supports his son Charlie in junior events. This time, he got a taste of his son’s perspective. Charlie humorously remarked about his dad’s caddie skills to GolfWeek, saying, “For dad as a caddie, his reads are hook-bias, and I don’t hook as much as he does. So all of my putts, I miss right. So, I have to account for that.”
Sam Woods gained public attention in March 2022 when she spoke at her father’s induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame. She shared touching words about the challenges their family faced after Tiger’s serious car crash in Los Angeles. Sam praised her father’s strength, highlighting his achievements as the first Black and Asian golfer to win a Major and his resilience in overcoming health issues.
During her speech, Sam celebrated her father’s fighting spirit and expressed gratitude for his recovery. She said, “About a year ago, you were stuck in your hospital bed at one of your ultimate lows, at one of the scariest moments of your life and ours. We didn’t know if you’d come home with two legs or not. Now, not only are you being inducted into the Hall of Fame, but you’re standing here, on your own two feet.”
It is heartwarming to witness the admiration and love that Tiger Woods’ children have for their father. The special bond they share both on and off the golf course is a testament to the enduring power of family.
