“Only the picture of my father, the unknown stranger, who saved my life and my brother’s that terrible day, remain in my mind. I haven’t moved past that moment even today.”

On November 15, 1912, an iceberg struck the RMS Titanic. For many people, it is a terrible day since they lost loved ones and will always be alone.

This is the story of the two brothers, Michael and Edmond, who lost their father when they were 2 and 4 years old.

In the hopes of finding a better life in America, the two kids and their father Michele Navratil boarded the Titanic.

Who would have guessed that this was not the case and that they will have a near death experience? They all had fake identities since Michele wanted to take them away from his ex-wife.

“It was a huge ship and certainly the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Now I was playing happily through it and suddenly I woke up, waiting for a place in the lifeboat. It was very painful to see my father stay there but I didn’t realize he was going to die.”

However, we were fortunate that they took us as well. We were seated last in the lifeboats, my brother and I.

Before boarding the lifeboat, the father told the two children that he adored them and assured their mother that he loved her as well, and that he was certain that he would come after them. All of these statements were made in the hopes that the two kids would eventually find their mother.

Thankfully, that’s what actually happened.

The kids boarded the Carpathia and were taken there by a woman who volunteered to look after them until someone recognized them.

The two little children were located by their mother through the news and images that were published with their story because they didn’t speak English and had false identities on the paperwork.

A month and a day after the catastrophe, the family came together again, but sadly without their father because he perished on the ship.
