They wanted a place with good vibes, so they chose a local barbecue restaurant called Sheesh. However, there was a slight problem – Stedman is a vegan, and as you can imagine, a barbecue restaurant doesn’t offer many vegan options.
In a previous visit to Sheesh, Stedman tried to order some side items, as she usually does when dining out. Unfortunately, the restaurant declined her request to only order from the sides. Determined to make her next visit better, she decided to call ahead and discuss her dietary needs with the restaurant. Little did she know that this would lead to even more disappointment.
When Stedman explained her situation, hoping they would be understanding and allow her to order some sides, she received a shocking response. The employee on the other end of the line said, “I don’t even know why a vegan would want to come to our restaurant anyway.” Not only did they refuse to accommodate vegans, but they also displayed a level of rudeness that was completely uncalled for.
Frustrated by her experience, Stedman took to TikTok to share her story. She documented her encounter with Sheesh and expressed her disappointment at their lack of vegan options and poor treatment. The video gained a lot of support, with commenters agreeing that all restaurants should be vegan-friendly in this day and age.
While being a vegan can be challenging at times, it’s important to remember that there are many restaurants and establishments that strive to cater to all dietary preferences. Let’s hope that more places embrace inclusivity and recognize the growing demand for vegan options in the future.
