Kevin Costner was apparently “stunned” and caught off guard when Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.
This week’s bombshell facts was made public when Baumgartner filed the papers on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
A statement from Costner’s representative read: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have taken place which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”
As they traverse this trying time, “We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected.”
In 2004, Costner and Baumgartner got married. Grace, 12, Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, are the couple’s only children. In the event of a divorce, Costner and Baumgartner are reportedly asking for joint custody of their kids.
The couple was last photographed together in March, and there were no reports that their relationship had soured (as there usually are in such circumstances).
If sources are to be believed, fans weren’t only shocked to learn that Costner and Baumgartner’s close to 20-year marriage was ending.
According to Page Six, Oscar-winning actor and Yellowstone star Kevin Costner was unaware that his wife was considering divorce.
One buddy reportedly added, “Kevin was very surprised by Christine’s actions, he obviously doesn’t want the divorce, and he would take her back.”
He loves her and his kids, so it’s disappointing.
It is stated that Costner, who is 68 years old and keeps a highly hectic schedule, spent months away from home to film his well-known Western series Yellowstone in Montana. According to rumors, his absence might have caused his marriage to face difficulties.
In 1994, the actor’s high-profile $80 million divorce from Cindy Costner followed a veritable avalanche of allegations regarding his alleged pattern of infidelity. However, sources assert that Costner hasn’t left his marriage bed this time.
“There was no issue with cheating,” a friend told Page Six. Meanwhile, a Costner spokesperson shot down accusations of adultery, saying they are “absolutely not true.”
“I don’t know if Kevin even knows the reasons,” Costner’s pal continued.
Another insider involved in Yellowstone’s manufacturing said: “No one was aware of any concerns. He was not sequestered on the set and frequently visited his family there.
According to reports, Baumgartner’s divorce petition did not include a request for spousal maintenance, and a prenup is reportedly in place to safeguard Costner’s reputed $250 million fortune.
“He’s shooting right now, and it’s all very upsetting,” the aforementioned buddy of Costner told Page Six. “You don’t expect your wife to file for divorce when you least expect it.”
Such a separation is never simple for the parties concerned. We are praying for Kevin and Christine.
