Soothing Calendula Skin Balm

Instead of using harsh powders, this gentle balm uses natural botanicals to soothe dry patches and maintain skin elasticity without irritating sensitive areas.

Ingredients & Tools:

  • Dried Calendula Petals: Known for their calming and skin-mending properties.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Rich in antioxidants and healthy fatty acids.
  • Beeswax Pellets: Provides a natural barrier to lock in moisture.
  • Glass Jar: For infusing and storing the balm.

Instructions:

  1. Infuse the Oil: Fill a small glass jar halfway with dried calendula. Pour olive oil over the petals until they are completely submerged. Let this sit in a sunny windowsill for two weeks, shaking daily.
  2. Strain: Use a fine cheesecloth to strain the oil into a clean bowl, discarding the petals.
  3. Melt: Using a double boiler, gently heat the infused oil and add one tablespoon of beeswax pellets. Stir until the wax has completely dissolved into the oil.
  4. Set: Pour the liquid into a small tin or jar. Let it sit undisturbed at room temperature until it firms up into a smooth, golden salve.
  5. Application: Massage a small amount onto dry elbows, knees, or hands. It provides a protective layer that breathes with your skin.
