Rosemary has long been a staple in traditional hair care, and for good reason. Modern studies suggest that rosemary oil can be as effective as some over-the-counter treatments for stimulating blood circulation to the scalp, which is the foundation for “extreme” growth and thickness.+1
When combined with nourishing fats, it creates a potent treatment that strengthens the hair shaft and prevents the breakage that often stalls length goals.
The Benefits of Rosemary Hair Butter

- Scalp Stimulation: Rosemary contains carnosic acid, which helps heal tissue and nerve damage, improving cellular turnover and blood flow.
- Follicle Strengthening: By deeply moisturizing the scalp and hair, this butter reduces shedding and encourages follicles to stay in the growth phase longer.
- Natural Shine and Softness: The fatty acids in the base oils seal the hair cuticle, providing an immediate boost in texture and manageable shine.
Rosemary Growth Butter
This whipped butter is designed to be used as a pre-wash treatment or a light sealant for the ends of your hair.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Raw Shea Butter (for deep moisture and protection)
- 2 tbsp Coconut Oil or Jojoba Oil (as a carrier)
- 10โ15 drops Organic Rosemary Essential Oil
- 1 tsp Castor Oil (optional, for added thickness)
- 5 drops Vitamin E Oil (acts as a natural preservative)
Instructions
- Melt the Base: Gently melt the shea butter and coconut oil together using a double boiler over low heat. Do not let it boil; you want to preserve the nutrients.
- Cool: Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool in the refrigerator for about 15โ20 minutes until it is semi-solid (it should look opaque but still be soft).
- Add the Actives: Stir in the rosemary essential oil, vitamin E, and castor oil.
- Whip: Using a hand mixer or whisk, whip the mixture until it reaches a light, fluffy, “butter-like” consistency.
- Store: Transfer to a clean glass jar and store in a cool, dry place.
How to Use Massage a small amount into your scalp 2โ3 times a week. For an intensive treatment, apply it from root to tip, leave it on for 30 minutes under a warm towel, and then wash thoroughly with a mild shampoo.
