The actress paid heartbreaking homage to her only child on Instagram, writing, “Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise, my darling boy.”

Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, Drena De Niro’s son, has passed away, the actress announced on Instagram on Sunday night.

The 51-year-old actress sent these heartfelt words in a post: “My lovely sweet angel. I have loved you indescribably since the first time I sensed your presence inside of me.”

“You have been all that was ever true, pure, and joyous in my life. Right now, I wish I was with you. I want to be here with you. I don’t know how to survive without you, but I’ll make an effort to carry on and share the love and brightness that becoming your mother has made me feel. I wish that the love and admiration I had for you had been enough to save you.”

Drena concluded her eulogy by saying, “I’m so sorry my baby,” and she also tagged Carlos Mare, the father of Leandro’s artistic career. “My darling boy, rest in peace and eternal paradise.”

In the comments section, Drena’s family and friends expressed their sympathies. Lee Daniels, a director, wrote: “Drena may GOD keep you in his arms.”

Rosie Perez, an actress, added: “Shocked! I’m truly sorry! All of us are here for you!!! You have my utmost love.”

Drena shared adorable pictures of her and Leandro, who starred in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, together on Mother’s Day.

The oldest of De Niro’s seven children is Drena. Actress Diahnne Abbott, his first wife, is her mother.

The Goodfellas star announced in May that his girlfriend Tiffany Chen had given birth to their seventh child, a girl they called Gia, just a few months earlier.
