A famous commercial starring a guard and a young boy has gone viral (see video below). In the 1997 video, a youngster approaches a Marine guard and asks if he is Santa Claus. As the boy stares up at him, the guard ignores him, never establishing eye contact with him.

The youngster then takes out his Christmas list, hoping the guard will bring him presents. The guard, shockingly, reaches out his left hand and snatches the list from the youngster.

The heartfelt commercial was created to promote the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys For Tots program. The initiative, which established in 1947, gathers “new, unwrapped toys during the months of October, November, and December each year” to give to needy children.

The purpose is to provide “a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens.” “One of the few commercials I actually like,” wrote one viewer.

“This video only lasts 30 seconds, but I’ve seen it countless times and it makes me cry every single time,” another user commented.
