Paula Abdul Sues Fellow 'So You Think You Can Dance' Judge Nigel Lythgoe, Now He Responds

In a shocking turn of events, Paula Abdul has filed a lawsuit against Nigel Lythgoe, accusing him of sexual assault. As fans of Abdul, we can’t help but feel shocked and saddened by this news. Nigel is not only known as a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance,” but also as an executive producer of “American Idol.” Abdul, a former judge on “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” claims that Nigel assaulted her multiple times during their time working together.

The lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, was filed in LA County on December 29. Abdul is suing Nigel, 19 Entertainment, and FremantleMedia North America for sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, and negligence. These are serious allegations that should not be taken lightly.

According to the documents filed by Abdul, the first assault occurred during one of the early seasons of “American Idol” while they were on the road for regional auditions. She alleges that Nigel assaulted her in an elevator of the hotel they were staying at. He allegedly pushed her against a wall, fondled her, and tried to kiss her. Abdul managed to push him away and escape to her hotel room.

Abdul claims that she immediately reported the incident to one of the representatives on her team. However, out of fear of losing her job, she decided to keep it quiet. Unfortunately, the alleged assaults didn’t end there. In 2015, after signing a contract with “So You Think You Can Dance,” Abdul claims that Nigel once again forced himself on her. He allegedly invited her to his house under the guise of discussing work opportunities, but instead, he pinned her down on a couch and attempted to kiss her.

It is deeply disturbing to hear these allegations, especially considering the power dynamic between Abdul and Nigel. No one should have to endure such treatment in the workplace or anywhere else. Abdul’s courage to come forward deserves our support and respect.

Abdul further alleges that Nigel would taunt her about the assaults, making inappropriate comments and reminding her that the statute of limitations had expired. This is completely unacceptable behavior and shows a total lack of respect for the serious nature of these allegations.

However, thanks to California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act, Abdul has chosen not to remain silent any longer. This act allows victims of sexual abuse more time to come forward and seek justice.

As fans of Paula Abdul, it’s important for us to listen to her story and support her during this difficult time. No one should have to endure sexual assault or be afraid to speak out against their abusers. Let’s stand together and demand accountability for these actions.
