Mom’s honest letter to son gives him “rude awakening”

Previous Next

The prospect of having a child is exciting, and everything is almost perfect while the children are still very young.

However, once they reach a certain age, they believe they are mature enough to do things their own way, leaving parents feeling helpless or as if they have failed as parents.

The thing is, most teenagers go through this stage, and many realise (sooner or later) that they were mistaken and should listen to their parents.

Heidi Johnson is a caring mother who does everything she can to provide her son with the life he deserves. Of course, she expects him to respect her and be courteous and pleasant in return. Basically, like every other parent out there.

Aaron, on the other hand, believes that at the age of 13, he is old enough to do whatever he wants, including breaking his mother’s house rules.

Heidi refused to put up with such behaviour and decided to take matters into her own hands, and her response to her teenage son’s arrogance and misbehaviour has since gone viral.

She inadvertently posted the letter, which included a ‘bill’ that Aaron was supposed to pay every month for things he was getting for free, such as rent and food. She thought that would teach him a lesson, and she was correct.

“After the words he exchanged with me last night, the child is going to have a rude awakening today.” Not only will he find this on the door, but his mattress will be stripped, as well as the toys and clothes I purchased. He will have three choices.

Buy his own, rent his clothes for $3 per day, or renegotiate the terms of his childhood. Mama has had enough of playing games and being a doormat.”

Different people had different reactions to the post. While some praised this mother’s actions, others thought she overreacted and disagreed with her disciplinary repercussions.

“Well done, Mom. “Because you taught him consequences, your son will be an excellent roommate, friend, guest, spouse, and employee,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Excellent work!!!” That is how you raise self-disciplined, responsible, caring human beings!!” Another Facebook user agreed with Heidi’s parenting style.

Some believe she should have found a better way to tell her son that his behaviour was inappropriate.

“You are essentially a bully who uses her power over her son to force him to do what she wants.” Yeah, that works…until they’re truly independent,” one person remarked.

Heidi, on the other hand, believes she knows best and is only trying to teach Aaron about life’s values. This is what she said to justify her actions.

“To make a point, I wrote him a “bill.” Nothing is free. Somewhere along the line, someone is making a sacrifice. When I discovered he had lied to me about his homework, I restricted his internet access.”

Aaron was enraged by his mother’s actions because he believed no one had the authority to tell him how to live his life. This is primarily because he has his own YouTube channel and earns money from it, so despite being only 13, he felt completely independent.

“Really? What plan do you have? You can’t take my belongings…” Heidi expressed Aaron’s first reaction to his punishment.

However, after giving it some thought, he realised his mother’s point and realised she was correct. He promised not to lie about his homework again and that he would respect her opinion.

“He apologised and asked what he could do to make things right and begin earning items back.” He immediately earned his comforter and some clothes back. I did leave him some clothes at first, but not ones he’d want to wear every day. He also had some pillows and sheets, but they weren’t his favourites.” Heidi elaborated.

Finally, the two came up with the idea of creating a contract outlining what Aaron is expected to do.

They don’t get along, and Heidi is relieved she found a way to make her son realise his error.

We believe this mother simply did what was necessary to teach her son a lesson. Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
