Kelly Clarkson Reaches Divorce Settlement

Kelly Clarkson recently spoke out about the challenges she faced during her marriage to Brandon Blackstock. In new documentation, Clarkson shared that Blackstock made hurtful comments about her appearance and suitability for certain roles. These revelations come to light as their contentious divorce continues.

According to TMZ, while working with the California labor commissioner last year, Clarkson disclosed that Blackstock told her she wasn’t “sexy” enough to be a judge on The Voice. He went so far as to compare her to Rihanna, implying that NBC was looking for a more “sex symbol type” for the role. This was disheartening for Clarkson, who had wanted the opportunity.

Despite Blackstock’s negative remarks, Clarkson eventually secured the position in 2018. However, it wasn’t without complications. Blackstock reportedly went as far as to threaten NBC executives, stating that Clarkson would return to “American Idol” if they didn’t sign her. He even advocated for her to receive a salary equal to that of Blake Shelton, a fellow judge on the show.

Throughout their marriage, Blackstock acted as both Clarkson’s husband and manager. Unfortunately, it has now come to light that he took millions of dollars from her during this time. According to documents obtained by TMZ, a judge has ruled that Blackstock owes Clarkson over $2.6 million. It has been determined that Blackstock unlawfully collected booking commissions while working as her manager.

Blackstock played a significant role in securing Clarkson various deals, such as her role as a coach on The Voice and as the host of the Billboard Music Awards. As a result, he gave himself a commission for his involvement in these negotiations. However, this is against the law, as only agents are legally allowed to receive commission from their clients. The documents show that Blackstock took over $1.98 million in commissions from Clarkson’s coaching role alone.

While Brandon Blackstock is choosing to appeal the judge’s decision, the details of his appeal are not currently publicly known. Neither Blackstock’s team nor Clarkson’s team has issued a statement regarding this specific legal issue.

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have recently finalized their divorce settlement. Under the terms of the agreement, Clarkson will make a one-time payment of over $1.3 million to Blackstock. She will also provide monthly child support of $45,601 for their two children, River Rose (7) and Remington Alexander (5), as determined by court documents obtained by The Blast.

Regarding custody, the former couple has agreed on joint custody of their children. However, the children will primarily reside with Clarkson in her Los Angeles home. Due to the expected travel between Clarkson’s home and Blackstock’s Montana ranch, a stipulation has been included that mandates both children to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Clarkson will retain ownership of both Montana properties, with Blackstock paying $2,000 a month to stay in one until June when the agreement expires. Additionally, Clarkson will be required to pay Blackstone spousal support each month in the amount of $115,000. These payments will continue until January 31, 2024.
