The story begins with Patricia English Garner, Jennifer’s mother, who holds a treasure trove of memories from her childhood on a farm in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Patricia fondly remembers how her parents acquired the land, a piece that has been in their family for generations.
In 1936, Patricia’s parents purchased the land with a bonus her father received from his service in World War I. With only $700 in hand, they bought the property, which included a two-room house and 20 acres of land. Interestingly, the property also housed a Native American cemetery at its heart.
Cherished Beginnings and Change of Hands
Patricia recalls that her parents didn’t own a car at the time of purchase. They had to hire someone to transport them to the property and negotiate over a $20 difference. Eventually, a deal was struck, and the land became a permanent part of the family.
Despite lacking running water and indoor plumbing, the farm was filled with cherished memories of Patricia’s upbringing on that 20-acre property. However, as family members grew up and moved away, the farm changed hands several times.
Jennifer’s Revival Mission
In 2017, Jennifer Garner made a decision to reclaim her family’s legacy by purchasing the farm. Her vision went beyond nostalgia; she aimed to breathe new life into it and turn it into a thriving business once again.
To accomplish this, Jennifer enlisted the help of her uncle Robert and aunt Janet, who were the former owners of the farm. After four decades of neglect, the farm, which was once a bustling center for pecans, lettuce, radishes, and potatoes, was ready for a revival.

Under the banner of “Once Upon a Farm,” Jennifer collaborated with co-founders Ari Raz, John Foraker, and Cassandra Curtis to cultivate organic fruits and vegetables and create nutritious foods for children. Her goal was to bring baby food back to its organic roots.
In 2018, this project became a reality. Jennifer shared her long-held dream, stating, “Once upon a time… we dreamed of bringing baby food back to the roots with organic fruits and veggies harvested from local farmers, blended with love, and served fresh from the fridge.”
