It’s possible you recognize Mel Gibson’s grown-up son.

Mel Gibson has appeared in many excellent films, like The Passion of the Christ and Braveheart, but his most essential role will always be that of a father to his nine incredible children.

In 1980, he and his ex-wife, Robyn Moore Gibson, had their first child, a daughter named Hannah Gibson. Following Hannah’s birth, the couple went on to have seven more children before divorcing in 2011 after 31 years of marriage.

Mel began dating Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva after they separated, and she shortly gave birth to his ninth kid. Mel met his current partner, screenwriter Rosalind Ross in 2010.

Fans thought he was done having children, but the couple welcomed their son, Lars Gibson, in 2017. “As a parent, everybody screws up,” the Ransom star previously told The Sunday Times magazine about parenting. “There is no such thing as a flawless parent, and it is so easy to make mistakes. But I hope I’ve made fewer blunders than most.”

Mel’s son, Milo Gibson, believes his father was not a particularly awful dad. In fact, he claimed that when he told his father about his desire to pursue acting as a career, he received a lot of encouragement from him.

“My dad was always a big proponent of doing what you like to do, and continually doing new things and trying new things, but do what you love,” Milo previously said. “I then took action. I worked at a number of different jobs, but none of them were things I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And I like performing, something I am quite passionate about.”

Milo has been in a number of fantastic films since his debut in 2016, including Hacksaw Ridge, Breaking & Exiting, and Brother’s Keeper. He hasn’t received an Oscar yet, but he will soon, thanks to the great advice his father provided him.

When working, “be true to your character and resemble them as much as possible, and of course have fun,” Milo said. Milo’s father’s counsel has stuck with him. “Forget about the camera. The camera is said to be your closest friend, but I find it most effective when I forget it’s even there, because if I’m aware of it, I’m not being entirely honest with myself.”

Mel wants his children to reach their full potential.

Hannah Gibson’s

Hannah was born in 1980. She once worked as a makeup artist on her father’s television show What Women Want, but she did not pursue a career in acting like him.

In 2006, Hannah married musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd, who may be seen standing next to her in the photo above. The couple has three children: a girl and two sons.

Gibson, Christian

Christian, one of Mel’s twin sons, was born in 1982. He is currently working as a camera operator in Hollywood. He has also worked alongside his father on projects such as Daddy’s Home 2 and Hacksaw Ridge.

Gibson, Edward

Christian’s twin Edward, seen on the right in the photograph above, lives a more private life than his similar-looking sibling. Edward started Natural Edge, a company that makes bespoke wood slab furniture.

Wiliam

Mel’s third son, William, was born in 1985. William has no images because he lives a pretty private life.
