The NBC News anchor has legions of followers, but his biggest supporter is his wife!

Al Roker and his wife, Deborah Roberts, are relationship goals, with the ABC host being his closest supporter during his current health fight.

Furthermore, Deborah has always been there for the Today host, and one particular instance comes to mind as we pondered their love this Valentine’s Day.

In 2022, Al took over for Jenna Bush Hager on the show’s Fourth Hour, when he spoke up to Hoda Kotb about his other half and how she is always the first to defend him for his co-stars.

“What I adore about her is that she’s my biggest guardian if you will,” Al explained. “Now and then, [Craig] Melvin will make an age joke, and she’ll text him.”

“She’ll say, ‘You better knock it off,’ and he’ll say, ‘Oh, I got a text from Deborah!’ She’ll come after you!”

“She’s a staunch defender of Al and his biggest cheerleader!” Hoda remarked.

On the other hand, Deborah is quick to put her husband in his place if she believes he has gone too far on television.

“Deborah is always the first to SMS if Al has over the line because you do!”

Hoda informed the father of three. “Once in a while!” Al responded. “Now and then, Deborah would text you and say, ‘Pull it back,’ because sometimes you take something too far,” Hoda explained.

“What will you do if you receive the Deborah text?” she inquired. “Well, I usually figure it’s live TV, and there’s nothing I can do now!” Al responded.

Deborah is well-known on television, having worked as a television journalist for ABC News, appearing on series such as 20/20 with David Muir. Furthermore, the couple’s daughter Leila, who studied journalism at the university in Paris, is following in her parent’s footsteps as a reporter.

Leila graduated last year and has already scored significant positions, including reporting on the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, which Al also covered for Today.

Al enjoys nothing more than spending time with his family in New York while not working.

The 67-year-old is the father of two daughters, Leila, 22, and Nicholas, 19, with his wife Deborah, and Courtney, 33, with his first wife, Alice Bell.
