Heartwrenching events unfolded in Seymour, Indiana, when Hayden Howard’s beloved English Mastiff, Jackson, came home covered in what appeared to be bug bites. Little did Hayden know that the truth was far more horrifying – Jackson had actually been shot multiple times with a BB gun.
Upon discovering the shocking wounds on Jackson’s body, Hayden rushed him to the vet in a state of disbelief. The veterinarian conducted a thorough examination, only to uncover the distressing reality – Jackson had nearly 70 gunshot wounds inflicted upon him, with bullets deeply embedded in various parts of his body, including his eyelid, ear, and knee. While the skilled vet managed to remove 27 of the bullets, 20 still remained lodged inside Jackson.
The Seymour Police Department quickly identified a neighbor as the prime suspect in this appalling act of cruelty. Subsequent investigation at the neighbor’s residence uncovered a BB gun, pellets, and drug paraphernalia. Assistant Chief Craig Hayes of the Seymour Police Department expressed his shock, stating, “I have never seen an animal shot that many times. This is a very bad case.”
Despite the severity of Jackson’s injuries, there is hope on the horizon. Thanks to the care and dedication of Hayden and the veterinary team, Jackson is now on the road to recovery. After enduring such immense pain and trauma, this brave canine is slowly regaining his strength and spirit.
