Halle Berry had a long list of accomplishments by the time she had her first child at the age of 41. Six years ago, the cover girl, fashion sensation, and legendary beauty became the first Black woman to win an Academy Award for best actress (via Complex).

After “X-Men,” “Monster’s Ball,” and “Catwoman,” the actress was ready to concentrate on her personal life. In 2007, Berry and her model boyfriend Gabriel Aubry announced their pregnancy. “I’ve waited my whole life for this moment,” the actress told Access Hollywood.

Berry had a daughter on March 16, 2008. Nahla translates to “honeybee” in Arabic. She’s as sweet as her name suggests. Nahla is a typical adolescent. Halle Berry is well-adjusted because she values her privacy. We see Nahla from time to time, and she’s very similar to Berry.

According to the nursery rhyme, girls are “sugar and spice and everything nice.” At least, that’s how they’ve been socialized to be: pleasant, courteous, and sometimes a touch sarcastic. While the statement is outdated, many young people have similar characteristics. Dresses, glitter, and nail polish distinguish them as “girly girls.”

When advertising her distinctive perfumes, Halle Berry claimed in 2011 that 3-year-old Nahla was the brand’s biggest fan. “She’s very girly,” Berry said to People. “I now have four fragrances,” she explained. “She tries them all and likes them all. I’m sure she’ll put on perfume.”

Berry told InStyle the next year about her daughter’s interests. “Thank heavens she’s girly!” “She likes makeup, clothes, and skincare,” said the superstar. Berry supports Nahla’s style, but she also pushed her children to challenge gender stereotypes, such as the assumption that certain colors are just for girls. Berry stated during a virtual event in 2021 that parents must teach acceptance to their children. “That’s where it all starts,” she observed.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry appeared to have a future when Nahla was born. Their relationship deteriorated, and they divorced when Nahla was two years old. Berry’s publicist stated that she and Aubry would be friends and co-parents, but a custody battle erupted.

Both sides made surprising charges, according to Radar Online. “Halle has a particularly nasty temper, and she can be really controlling and vengeful,” a source stated. Berry accused Aubry of being abusive verbally.

In 2012, Gabriel Aubry and Berry’s new boyfriend, Olivier Martinez, got into a fight and obtained protective orders. Later that year, the ex-couple agreed on custody of their 4-year-old daughter Nahla.

In 2021, the custody battle resurfaced after Halle Berry’s child support payments to Gabriel Aubry were reduced from $16,000 to $8,000 per month (The Toronto Sun). Before the news leaked, Berry termed her ex’s outrageous payments “wrong” and “extortion.”  Nahla’s parents share custody, and despite their terrible feud, she appears to get along with both of them.

Halle Berry understands the importance of protecting her children’s privacy. Nahla’s childhood is free of public scrutiny thanks to her mother’s foresight. Halle Berry shared a cute 2016 Instagram snapshot of Nahla and her brother Maceo, cropped to reveal only their smiles. “Let me clarify—I’m not ashamed of my children,” Berry said in response to a commenter’s criticism of her children’s characteristics. ” I try to find creative ways to include them in my feed because they are the most essential aspect of my life, but I also want to keep their identities disguised because they are only children.”

More than just Instagram haters and paparazzi have targeted the family. According to The Huffington Post, Berry was stalked. The actress considered fleeing the country in order to safeguard her daughter. Berry petitioned the court in 2012 to have Nahla relocated to France. Despite Nahla’s father’s denial, Berry remains protective.

If Nahla Aubry goes public, Halle Berry wants her to have her own terms. “I’ve fought so hard to protect [my children’s] privacy,” the actor said on “Today” in 2019. Berry encourages her daughter’s independence in a variety of ways. Nahla began dressing at the age of four, according to Berry.

Berry embodies Nahla’s support for her freedom. According to CBS 8, the actress played Nahla and Maceo in “Bruised,” her directorial debut. “I’m directing because of my children,” Berry explained. “I must continue to discover myself. In her art, I must continue to model a living, dynamic Black woman.”

Nahla’s mother will not prevent her from flying. “I don’t want to be sad about my children going. “Yes, girl, fly,” I want to say. “Go forth and live your life.”

Halle Berry acknowledges her mixed identity freely. According to People, the Oscar winner was teased and felt inferior at her all-white school. Berry, who has two mixed-race daughters, wants Nahla to be confident and beautiful.

Berry accused Nahla’s father, Gabriel Aubry, of chemically straightening and dyeing her hair in 2014. Berry was enraged by what she saw as an attempt to minimize Nahla’s biracial identity, according to Vogue. The court ruled that neither parent may change Nahla’s hairstyle.

Berry hopes Nahla will not face the same prejudice she had as a child. “My mixed-race daughter may have race difficulties as she ages.”  “I believe her generation is less worried than mine was.” In 2018, Berry shared a photo of Nahla’s gorgeous curls on Instagram. “My tiny queen crowned in her curls,” wrote the actress.

Being the child of a star ensures wealth and status. Nahla Aubry learned about poverty from her mother’s work with the World Food Programme. In 2015, the 7-year-old traveled to Nicaragua with her mother to feed poor children. According to the World Food Programme, 30% of Nicaraguans are poor, hence this initiative is critical. Nahla’s experience in Central America inspired her to do more. After returning home, the youngster sent some of her toys to Nicaraguan children. According to ABC News, Nahla’s thoughtful present included toys and a bicycle.

The sweet youngster continued. Nahla’s neighborhood lemonade stand raised funds for impoverished children. Halle Berry spoke about her daughter’s charity at UCLA. “I admire her,” she remarked. “Instruct your children in child care.”

Celebrity children can also have bad hair days. Nahla’s mother, Halle Berry, had to shave a portion of her head in the summer of 2020. Nahla had too many family pool swims, which resulted tangled tangles that no hairbrush could remove.

Appearing on “On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Berry stated, “So, every time I go to comb her hair, she’s like, ‘No, don’t touch me. I’ll make it.”  “I don’t need airbrushing,” Berry stated that allowing her 12-year-old daughter to determine her hair care routine was a huge mistake. “We’re doing schoolwork one night, and [Nahla] says, “Mom, I’m afraid to tell you this, but, like, touch the back of my head,” she explained. ” Her shoulder-length hair has matted into a ball.”

Celebrities and fans wished the teen a happy birthday. Nahla’s birthday was celebrated by Viola Davis, Lalah Delia, and others. With so much love and support, Nahla will succeed.

Nahla will always be loved and guided by her mother. Berry told Women’s Health in 2021, “Speak. Your opinion is important. Simply be yourself. Your self-definition is yours.”
