Garlic & Clove Infused Oil

Combining cloves and garlic is a powerful way to address the discomfort and appearance of varicose veins. While varicose veins are often a result of weakened vein walls and valves, this remedy focuses on improving blood flow and reducing the inflammation that causes veins to bulge and ache.

Both ingredients contain active compounds that help “thin” the blood naturally and strengthen the vascular system from the outside in.

Why Cloves and Garlic Work Together

  • Garlic (The Circulation Booster): Garlic is rich in allicin, which helps reduce blood pressure and prevents blood from pooling in the veins. It also helps break down fibrin, a protein that can build up in areas with poor circulation and make veins appear hard and lumpy.
  • Cloves (The Anti-Inflammatory): Cloves contain high levels of eugenol, which acts as a natural anesthetic and anti-inflammatory. This helps “shrink” the appearance of the veins and relieves the heavy, throbbing sensation in the legs.
  • Vascular Protection: Together, these ingredients help clear toxins from the blood vessels and improve the elasticity of the vein walls, making them less likely to stretch and protrude.

The Recipe: Garlic & Clove Infused Oil

This topical oil is designed to be massaged into the skin, allowing the active compounds to penetrate directly toward the affected veins.

Ingredients

  • 5 cloves of fresh Garlic
  • 10 to 12 whole Cloves
  • 1/2 cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (a great carrier that also contains skin-strengthening Vitamin E)
  • The juice of 1/2 a Lemon (the citric acid helps the skin absorb the oil)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Garlic: Mince the garlic cloves as finely as possible and let them sit for 10 minutes to activate the allicin.
  2. Crush the Cloves: Use a mortar and pestle (or the back of a heavy spoon) to lightly crush the whole cloves to release their essential oils.
  3. Combine: Place the garlic, crushed cloves, and olive oil into a clean glass jar. Add the lemon juice and stir well.
  4. Infuse: Close the jar and keep it in a dark, cool place for 24 to 48 hours. This allows the oil to become fully infused with the medicinal properties of the spices.
  5. Strain: After 48 hours, strain the oil through a fine mesh or cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the solids.

How to Apply:

  • Take a few drops of the oil and warm them between your palms.
  • Massage the oil onto the affected areas using gentle, upward strokes (always moving toward the heart).
  • Apply this before bed and wrap the area with a warm cotton cloth or wear leggings to keep the heat in.

A Thoughtful Tip: For the best results, consistency is vital. Apply this oil every night for at least four weeks. Additionally, try to avoid standing or sitting for long periods without moving to keep your blood flowing naturally.
