Melania Trump’s absence from Donald Trump’s campaign trail has been quite noticeable in recent weeks. The former president has now opened up about the reason behind his wife’s absence, and it is indeed heart-wrenching. While Melania typically prioritizes their son Barron, this time it is because she is fulfilling her role as a caring daughter.
During a New Year’s Eve event, Trump made a somber announcement. He explained that Melania’s mother, Amalija, is currently battling a serious illness, which has led to Melania being by her side instead of accompanying him at his appearances.
According to a source, Trump shared during the event, “Melania—she’s a great First Lady, loved by the people—she is now in a hospital with her mother. Her mother, Amalija, is very ill, but we hope for a speedy recovery.” Trump further expressed his concern, saying, “It’s a tough situation. She knows most of the people in this room, so I just want to wish Amalija a quick recovery.”
Both of Melania’s parents, who are in their late 70s, have been residing with the Trumps at Mar-a-Lago. Despite her status as a former First Lady and the possibility of returning to that role in the future, Melania has always expressed her preference for a private life away from the public eye.
