Denise Richards reflected on her Drop Dead Gorgeous co-star Kirstie Alley after her untimely death from cancer at the age of 71. On Tuesday, December 6, the RHOBH alum revealed her thoughts on Instagram.
“Kirstie is one of the funniest, sweetest, and strongest people I’ve ever met,” she added of Kirstie. “ I consider myself really fortunate and grateful to have had the opportunity to work on a film with her as my mother. Working with her initially frightened me, but she quickly put me at ease.”
“She adored animals and had a heart of gold. Her contagious laugh spread joy and light in every room she entered. Kirstie, you have many fans and will be greatly missed. God bless you and your grandchildren.”
Denise stated this after working with Kirstie in the 1999 film Drop Dead Gorgeous. In the mockumentary, Denise played Rebecca Ann “Becky” Leeman, a pageant contestant and the daughter of Kirstie’s Gladys Leeman character.
Gladys, a previous pageant winner, was the committee’s chief organizer. The amusing piece left an impression and is still a favorite of Denise and Kirstie’s followers.
Denise’s admiration of Kirstie was among the many wonderful words she received from her co-stars and friends. John Travolta, who co-starred with the model in the Look What’s Talking movies, soon shared fond memories of her on Instagram, along with a heartfelt message.
“One of the most unusual relationships I’ve ever had was with Kirstie. I admire you, Kirstie. “I’m sure we’ll cross paths again,” he wrote.
Many other celebrities, like Jamie Lee Curtis, Kelsey Grammer, Valerie Bertinelli, Tim Allen, and others, expressed their condolences and admiration for Kirstie. “I recently got the heartbreaking news that Kirstie Alley had died.” Jamie described her as a brilliant comedy foil in “@tvscreamqueens” and a lovely mother bear in real life. “She helped me buy onesies for my family for Christmas that year. We respected and bonded with one other even if we agreed to disagree on various matters.”
Abigail Breslin, who co-starred with Kirstie in Scream Queens, paid tribute to Jamie on Instagram. ” @kirstiealley, you were a beautiful person, rest in peace. I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to work with you on Scream Queens Season 2, and I always found it humorous when you typed your name into my phone. I hope you’re sound asleep right now.” She also posted a photo of Kirstie’s phone number, which read “Kirstie (like thirsty),” along with the remark, “Love to Kirsties families and friends. Xx.”
Kirstie’s son William and daughter Lillie released a tweet on her official Twitter account on December 5 telling fans of her death. “To all of our friends, near and far, from all around the world… We hate to inform you that our magnificent, heroic, and adored mother died after a battle with cancer that was only recently discovered.”
“She fought bravely while surrounded by her closest family members, leaving no doubt about her eternal love of life and whatever adventures lay ahead. She was a great actress, but she was also a wonderful mother and grandmother.”
