Collin Gosselin, known for being one of the eight children on the popular TV show ‘Jon and Kate Plus Eight’, recently spoke out about his difficult relationship with his mom Kate Gosselin.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Collin revealed how his time in a mental health institution, which lasted for two years, has affected their bond.

He expressed his disappointment in Kate, stating that she only visited him once during his stay, and instead of offering support, she lectured him and blamed him for the family’s issues.

Collin further shared that his admission to the institution had repercussions on his future plans. He had been ready to graduate from the Marines, but his past stay at the institution came to light and led to his dismissal from the military. Although the Marine Corp did not investigate the details of his time in the institution, they made the decision to let him go.

Unhappy with Kate’s decision to send him to the institution, Collin’s frustrations and criticisms reached a boiling point. Kate, in response, took to her Instagram account to address the situation.

She explained that Collin had received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years and that the decision to place him in a facility was made based on recommendations from his pediatric psychiatrist and a team of specialists.

According to Kate, the measures taken were essential for the safety and well-being of the entire family.

In the midst of this family turmoil, Jon Gosselin, Collin’s father, was granted custody of Collin and one of his siblings, Hannah. Jon has been a strong advocate for Collin and has been vocal about his belief that the institution stay was unnecessary and detrimental to his son’s well-being.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Collin has shown resilience and determination. After high school, he decided to join the Marines, a decision that Jon was proud of.

However, the recent discharge from the military has not discouraged Collin. He is currently enrolled at Penn State, where he is majoring in Finance.

Collin’s story serves as a reminder of the complexities and difficulties that can arise within families. It is important to support and understand one another, especially during challenging times.

Collin’s eventual success at Penn State showcases his resilience and ability to overcome obstacles.
