Clove and Coffee Infusion

Combining cloves with coffee creates a potent, multi-purpose concentrate that has been used in traditional households to replace expensive, store-bought beauty and wellness products. This blend utilizes the caffeine from coffee to stimulate circulation and the eugenol from cloves to act as a powerful antiseptic and preservative. By making this yourself, you create a natural alternative to high-end scalp serums and skin tonics.

The Benefits of the Clove and Coffee Infusion

  • Advanced Hair Growth: Caffeine blocks DHT (the hormone responsible for hair thinning), while cloves stimulate blood flow to the follicles, providing a “double-action” boost for length and thickness.
  • Natural Color Enhancement: For those with brown or dark hair, this mixture acts as a gentle, non-chemical glaze that deepens your natural shade and covers early greys.
  • Scalp Health: The antifungal properties of cloves combined with the exfoliating acidity of coffee help eliminate dandruff and product buildup.
  • Antioxidant Powerhouse: Both ingredients are loaded with polyphenols that protect the skin and hair from environmental damage and premature aging.

Clove and Coffee Vitality Essence

This concentrated infusion can be used as a hair rinse, a scalp spray, or even a firming body splash.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Dark Roast Coffee Grounds (freshly ground is best)
  • 1 tbsp Whole Organic Cloves
  • 1 cup Filtered Water
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick (optional, for added circulation)
  • 5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil (optional, for maximum hair growth)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Cloves: Use a mortar and pestle or the back of a heavy spoon to lightly crush the whole cloves. This releases the essential oils trapped inside the dried buds.
  2. Combine and Simmer: Place the coffee grounds, crushed cloves, and cinnamon stick into a small saucepan with the water.
  3. Infuse: Bring the mixture to a very gentle simmer (do not boil rapidly). Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Steep: Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let the mixture steep for at least 30 minutes. This allows the water to become fully saturated with the active compounds.
  5. Strain: Using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the liquid into a clean glass spray bottle or jar.
  6. Fortify: Once the liquid has cooled, add the rosemary oil if you are using it for hair growth.

How to Use

  • For Hair: Spray directly onto the roots and scalp 3 times a week. Massage for 2 minutes and do not rinse.
  • As a Rinse: After shampooing, pour the mixture over your hair as a final rinse to add shine and depth of color.
  • For Skin: Use as a splash on areas prone to cellulite; the caffeine helps temporarily tighten and smooth the skin’s appearance.

A Helpful Tip: Store this mixture in the refrigerator. The cold temperature not only preserves the natural ingredients but also helps constrict blood vessels when applied, which can reduce scalp inflammation and skin puffiness.
