The U.S. Army has confirmed the identity of Captain Rebecca M. Lobach, a dedicated 28-year-old pilot from Durham, North Carolina. Captain Lobach was one of the brave souls who tragically lost her life in the heartbreaking DC collision accident.
The unfortunate incident took place last Wednesday as the aircraft was approaching Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport for landing. The crash resulted in the tragic loss of 67 lives.
Out of respect for the familyโs wishes, Captain Lobach’s identity was initially kept private. However, military officials later released her name after consultation and coordination with her family.

Captain Lobach served our nation with distinction, beginning her military career as an aviation officer in the U.S. Army from July 2019 until January 2025. Her service extended to her role as a White House aide during the Biden administration, showcasing her unwavering dedication to duty.

Described by her family as โkind, generous, brilliant, funny, ambitious, and strong,โ Captain Lobach embodied these admirable qualities throughout her life.
Her exceptional military career was recognized with numerous awards, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.
Captain Lobach’s journey in the Army commenced as an accomplished military graduate in the ROTC program at the University of North Carolina. She ranked in the top 20 percent of cadets across the nation, exemplifying her commitment and leadership potential.
