Imagine the excitement of building your own dream house! That’s exactly what a young couple decided to do instead of buying an apartment. They embarked on a journey to find the perfect design and settled on something truly unique – a round house!

A House Like No Other

Their chosen design was a stratodesic sphere, a remarkable structure consisting of twelve wooden beams assembled on-site instead of traditional walls. The exterior was adorned with layers of beautiful larch wooden rectangles, not only creating an environmentally-friendly look but also ensuring durability as larch wood strengthens over time.

A Foundation Strong as Their Dreams

With no prior experience in construction or architecture, the couple wisely sought the assistance of a construction company. The project began with the excavation of a pit, where the foundation was carefully crafted using crushed stone, sand, and concrete. To ensure insulation, a rare and environmentally-friendly mixture of seaweed and coconut fiber was used. Not only is this insulation non-combustible, but it also has the added benefit of slow-smoldering rather than igniting.

Natural Beauty Preserved

Inside the house, the couple opted to highlight the natural beauty of the wood by not painting or wallpapering the walls. Instead, they treated it with a special waterproofing material, allowing the natural grain to shine. This decision not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also makes the walls waterproof – a practical choice for any home.

Spacious and Thoughtful Design

The house was designed with convenience and comfort in mind. The main floor consists of a spacious living room that seamlessly connects to the kitchen. On the second floor, two cozy bedrooms await. To access the second floor, a stylish wooden spiral staircase was installed beneath the dome, adding a touch of elegance to the interior.

Protection from the Elements

To ensure the house remains safe and weather-resistant, a metal cap was carefully placed on top of the dome. This cap prevents snow from accumulating during winter and guides rainwater down during showers. With these thoughtful considerations, the couple can enjoy their home year-round, regardless of the weather outside.

In the end, the young couple’s hard work and determination paid off. They are delighted with their unique round house, which now stands as a testament to their vision and commitment to building their dream home.
