The loss of his cherished Auntie Win has crushed Sir Elton John.

The 74-year-old Your Song singer confirmed his aunt’s passing at 95 in a tribute post on his Instagram page.

Elton John’s tribute was accompanied by photos of him and his aunt, including one of the two recently, one from the beginning of his career, and a black-and-white image of her cradling Elton as a newborn.

Elton captioned the images with the following: “My dear Auntie Win passed away this morning at the age of 95.”

“I will miss her dreadfully and loved her so much. She embodied kindness in every way. #RIP.”

Fans and acquaintances of the artist instantly paid their condolences in the comments section, with Bernie Taupin writing: “I’m so sorry, she was one of a kind.”

Davey Johnson, a musician, continued, “Oh Auntie Win, so sad to hear this – what a lovely lady.”

Meanwhile, Alan Carr said, “Oh no. I’m sorry.

Susannah Constantine, host of What Not To Wear, wrote: “Oh darling. Why didn’t you mention X?

The information was released a week after Elton confirmed that Glastonbury would be the main event of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

There is no more appropriate way to say farewell to my British supporters as the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour draws to a close, he said in a statement.

They have supported me through all the highs and lows of my career and have been beyond brilliant.

“I’ve been discussing it with Emily Eavis for the past few weeks, and I can’t wait to get into the festival vibe. It’s going to be a very emotional experience.
