Stacy, a 31-year-old Nigerian woman, had no idea what was in store for her when she gave birth in February. Little did she know that her twin boys, Daniel and David, would be anything but identical. While they were born just minutes apart, their appearances couldn’t be more different. Stacy and Babajide are both black and live in Lagos, but their adorable twins stand out wherever they go.

David, with his stunningly white skin and golden hair, falls into the highly unusual category of albinism. Only 1 in 20,000 infants are born with this condition, which affects the production of melanin in the skin, hair, and eyes. On the other hand, Daniel shares a resemblance with his 5-year-old sister, Demilade, boasting dark skin and black curly hair.

The twins’ birth on February 26 last year caught everyone off guard, including Stacy and Babajide. The scan during Stacy’s pregnancy did not reveal their differences, making their arrival a huge surprise. Stacy fondly recalls the moment Daniel came out with black hair, followed by David with gold hair. Nurses flocked to get a glimpse of the two unique babies.

Babajide, their father, was overwhelmed by the turn of events. He immediately named David “Golden” and couldn’t be more joyful. Babajide stood in awe for more than 10 minutes, marveling at God’s wonderful work. To him, the twins were the best gift he had ever received.

Despite the rarity of albinism, Stacy confirms that David is healthy and free from any associated health issues. However, Nigeria, with over two million confirmed or suspected cases, is one of the countries with the highest prevalence of albinism worldwide. Sadly, discrimination and harassment against albino Nigerians are still prevalent, with over 600,000 individuals facing challenges in their daily lives.

But Stacy proudly shares that she and her sons are equally adored, and nobody has ever said anything unpleasant about them. On the contrary, whenever they go out, people are curious and excited to know more about the twins with such contrasting features.

Due to their unique appearance, the twins’ family has received modeling offers from agencies in the UK. Stacy and Babajide are ready to seize any opportunities that come their way. They have created an Instagram account to share their joy and shed light on important issues. With over 18,000 followers within a year, the account has become a platform for spreading awareness, as the family believes that Daniel and David have a story to tell.

“They have two different amazing personalities,” Stacy proudly shares. “They are a year old now, walking, and very playful. Daniel is expressive, while David is observant. Both of them are highly inquisitive. Daniel loves food, while David can be a bit picky. Daniel is extremely playful, whereas David chooses his moments. Daniel always takes on the role of the older brother, and they are both full of energy.”
