In Madera Ranchos, California, a strange creature resembling a “werewolf” was spotted near an orchard. This poor animal had a mangy patch of fur, was underweight, and was balding. With hard, scaly skin and a damaged, sharp tail, he was shunned by everyone who passed by. People assumed he was dangerous and ill, so they avoided him.
But one day, an angel in human form came along and saw the potential in this puppy. She decided he was worth her time and called for assistance. Megan Bowe, the compassionate founder of Adoptable Rescued Pup, answered the call. When Megan saw the pitiful state of the dog, she couldn’t help but feel emotional. The dog, named King, was depressed and could barely stand up.
It soon became clear that King, the “werewolf,” was actually a very sick and neglected German Shepherd mix. He was taken to a vet’s clinic right away. King had multiple illnesses that needed to be addressed one by one. His most serious health issues, such as scabies, a damaged pelvis, and a broken tail, required surgery.
According to Megan, King’s injuries indicated that he had been hit by a car, and his tail had healed incorrectly over time. With a damaged pelvis, he couldn’t roam far to search for food, which caused him to become extremely thin and dehydrated. Despite his young age (just one year old), King’s health condition made him look much older.
To prevent the spread of contagious diseases, King needed to be kept in a separate area from the rest of Megan’s animals. However, with proper care and a gradually increasing portion of food, King started to regain his strength.
After months of healing, King was finally ready for the surgeries he desperately needed. With Megan’s support and the expertise of the veterinarians, the operations were successful. It took time, but King defied the odds and learned to walk again.
Megan believes that King will soon be ready for adoption. All she wants is for him to find a loving family and a place to call home. She reflects on the fact that many people passed by King without stopping because of his appearance. But it only took one person to make a difference.
It is because of people like the woman who called for help and Megan, who stepped in, that this world becomes a better place. Their kindness and compassion shine brightly, making a positive impact on the lives of animals in need.
