At just 15 years old, Stacey Faix found herself facing a difficult decision when she discovered she was pregnant. With immense courage and selflessness, she made the choice to give her baby boy up for adoption. Little did she know that their paths would cross again 35 years later in a truly extraordinary and heartwarming reunion.

In November 2017, Pennsylvania passed a law that allowed adoptees to access their original birth certificates, which caught the attention of Stephen Strawn. As an adoptee searching for his roots, he quickly obtained his birth certificate, revealing details that had long been hidden from him.

“It was a moment of immense relief,” Strawn shared. With this newfound information, he set out on a mission to find his biological mother, Stacey Faix. His search led him to a Facebook profile bearing her name.

Taking a chance, Strawn sent Faix a message, asking, “Hey, I have a really weird question. Did you put a baby boy up for adoption in 1982?” Faix confirmed his suspicions, and a spark of recognition ignited between them.

Despite living in different states, fate seemed determined to bring them together once again. Both Faix and Strawn were members of Team Red, White, and Blue (RWB), an organization dedicated to supporting veterans. Miraculously, they were both scheduled to participate in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon.

On race day, Strawn orchestrated a plan that brought tears of joy to his mother’s eyes. As Team RWB gathered before the race, someone handed Faix a card. Inside, a heartfelt message read: “It’s been 13,075 days since you last saw me. I didn’t want you to wait one more day.”

Faix was overcome with astonishment, and tears welled up in her eyes. The moment she had yearned for, for so many years, was finally here. “We must have hugged about 10 different times,” Strawn joyfully recalled, describing their emotional reunion. “It just felt so surreal that it was finally happening because it all happened so fast.”

As mother and son embraced their second chance at a relationship, they also ran the marathon together, making up for all the lost time. They shared stories, laughter, and caught up on the 35 years they had spent apart.

This incredible tale is a testament to the power of love. The love that a courageous young mother had when she chose life and entrusted her son to a loving family. The love that fate brought them back together after 35 long years. And the love that allowed them to reunite and rediscover a special bond once again.

Let’s celebrate this heartwarming story and spread the love!
