Every dog dreams of finding a loving home, but some dogs repeatedly get overlooked, leaving them feeling hopeless and abandoned. Recently, a heart-wrenching picture went viral, capturing the sadness of a 3-year-old pit bull in a shelter who had once again been left behind.
While the situation may seem bleak, there is still hope for this lonely dog to find the forever home he deserves.
Rocky, a 3-year-old pit bull, has been under the care of Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester, since October 2022. His family was evicted from their home and could no longer provide for him, according to Newsweek.
Since then, Rocky has been adopted out twice, only to be returned to the shelter after short trial periods. Despite these disappointments, there is a chance for Rocky to find the perfect home.
Lindsay Brewer, a communications specialist, shared, “He was most recently returned this past September and has had no luck since. He’s a great dog, but he would thrive in a certain type of home that may be more difficult to find.” Rocky would do best as the only dog in an adults-only home. Despite his wonderful qualities, finding the right match has proven challenging.
After enduring more than a year of rejection and false starts, Rocky’s spirit is starting to break. The shelter recently posted a heartbreaking photo of Rocky sitting alone in his kennel, his head hanging low, as if devastated by yet another day of being overlooked.
It is truly heartbreaking to see such despair in an animal who only wants to be loved. Rocky’s pleading eyes and dejected posture tug at our heartstrings.
