As we grow older, we learn that commitment and loyalty are values to cherish. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this, especially when it comes to our furry friends. It’s disheartening to see dogs being abandoned for arbitrary reasons, with no care for their well-being.
Recently, a rescue organization rescued a 7-year-old dog who had been surrendered to a shelter by his longtime owner. The rescue, overwhelmed with frustration, expressed their exasperation, stating that they were “sick and tired” of such cases.
The dog, a male, was surrendered to the Greenville Animal Control Shelter in Greenville, Texas. His owner claimed that they could no longer give him enough attention because they were having a baby. How could they give up on their loyal companion of seven years?
This poor dog was uprooted from the only home he had ever known and faced an uncertain future. He found himself in a crowded shelter, where finding a new family would be challenging. Worse yet, he could have been at risk of being euthanized.
Fortunately, the Lone Star Dog Ranch & Dog Ranch Rescue stepped in, paying the adoption fee and taking the dog into their care. They couldn’t contain their frustration at the situation. In a Facebook post, they asked the owner if they had felt any remorse as they left the shelter, leaving their dog behind. Did they see the look of confusion and heartbreak in the dog’s eyes?
They revealed that the dog, now named Rooney, was suffering from diarrhea and stress. However, despite his hardships, Rooney remained a sweet and gentle dog. Updates from the rescue showed that Rooney was still adjusting to his new environment and that they were working to find him a loving forever home.
It breaks our hearts to think that Rooney was discarded by his owner, but we find solace in the fact that he is now in safe hands. We hope that he will soon find a new home where he will be cherished for the rest of his life.
