Solar Plexus Reflexology Press

This targeted application focuses on a primary nerve center in the foot that corresponds to the solar plexus. By combining the soothing aromatic compounds of lavender with firm, rhythmic pressure, this action helps to interrupt the “fight or flight” response and encourage a state of deep, centered calm.

The Benefits

  • Nervous System Regulation: The solar plexus point on the foot is often described as the “stress relief valve.” Applying pressure here can help slow a racing heart and encourage deeper, more diaphragmatic breathing.
  • Aromatic Relaxation: Lavender contains linalool and linalyl acetate, which are rapidly absorbed through the skin and olfactory system. These compounds help lower cortisol levels and promote a sense of emotional equilibrium.
  • Tension Dissipation: Deep, circular pressure helps to physically break up stagnation in the tissues of the feet, which often mirror the tightness we hold in our upper bodies when under pressure.

Lavender Solar Plexus Press

This remedy is most effective when performed in a quiet, dimly lit space where you can sit comfortably and reach your feet without straining.

Ingredients

  • 2 drops of high-quality Lavender essential oil
  • 1 teaspoon of carrier oil (such as sweet almond, jojoba, or coconut oil)
  • A warm damp cloth (for preparation)

Instructions

  1. Begin by wiping both feet with a warm, damp cloth to open the pores and soften the skin.
  2. In the palm of your hand, mix the 2 drops of lavender essential oil with the teaspoon of carrier oil to ensure it is properly diluted for skin application.
  3. The Action: Locate the Solar Plexus point on your right foot. You can find it in the center of the upper foot, nestled just below the ball of the foot (the “padded” area).
  4. Apply a small amount of the oil blend directly to this point.
  5. Using your thumb, apply deep, circular pressure on the point. Move in a clockwise direction, maintaining a firm but comfortable weight.
  6. Continue this rhythmic pressing for 2 full minutes. Close your eyes and focus on the floral scent of the lavender as you breathe deeply.
  7. Repeat the exact same process on your left foot.
  8. Once finished, keep your feet warm by putting on a pair of clean cotton or wool socks to help the oil continue to absorb.
