The Botanical Growth Rinse

It is wonderful to see a return to time-honored botanical traditions for self-care. Using rosemary and cloves for hair health is a practice rooted in generations of herbal wisdom. While “extreme” growth is a bold claim, these two ingredients are scientifically respected for their ability to support a healthy scalp environment, which is the essential foundation for thicker, stronger hair.+1

The Power of the Plants

Rosemary is often celebrated as a natural alternative to modern scalp treatments. It contains ursolic acid, which helps support healthy circulation to the hair follicles. When blood flows well to the scalp, it delivers the oxygen and nutrients your hair needs to thrive.+2

Cloves complement this beautifully. They are rich in eugenol, a compound with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. By keeping the scalp clean and calm, cloves help prevent the irritation or buildup that can sometimes lead to thinning or shedding.+1

The Gentle Benefits

  • Scalp Stimulation: The aromatic oils gently awaken the skin without harsh chemicals.
  • Reduced Shedding: Strengthening the “anchor” of the hair can help you keep more of the hair you already have.
  • Natural Shine: The herbal infusion smooths the hair cuticle, leaving it looking vibrant and healthy.

The Botanical Growth Rinse

This simple, water-based infusion is easy to make and light enough to use daily without leaving your hair feeling greasy or weighed down.

The Rosemary & Clove Infusion

  • 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary (or 2 tablespoons of dried rosemary)
  • 1 tablespoon of whole cloves
  • 2 cups of filtered water

Instructions:

  1. Place the water in a small pot and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  2. Add the rosemary sprigs and the whole cloves.
  3. Let the mixture simmer for about 5โ€“8 minutes, then turn off the heat.
  4. Cover the pot and allow the herbs to steep until the water has cooled completely. The liquid will turn a beautiful deep amber color.
  5. Strain the mixture into a clean spray bottle or glass jar.
  6. To use: Spray the infusion directly onto your scalp and the roots of your hair. Gently massage it in with your fingertips for two minutes to encourage circulation. There is no need to rinse it out!
