The Benefits of Clove Toothpaste

Oral Comfort: Clove powder is naturally rich in eugenol, which has been used for centuries for its soothing and numbing properties, especially for sensitive gums.

Enamel Support: Calcium powder provides essential minerals that help keep teeth strong and healthy.

Healthy Microbiome: Xylitol is a natural sweetener that, unlike sugar, helps inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause cavities.

Gentle Cleansing: Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) acts as a mild abrasive to remove surface stains and neutralizes acids in the mouth that can damage enamel.

Antibacterial Base: Coconut oil contains lauric acid, known for its ability to balance the bacteria in the mouth.

Homemade Mineralizing Clove Toothpaste
This recipe creates a firm, shelf-stable paste that melts slightly as you brush.

Ingredients
6 tablespoons Coconut oil

3 tablespoons Calcium powder

1 tablespoon Xylitol (ensure it is finely ground)

ยฝ tablespoon Sodium bicarbonate (Baking soda)

ยฝ tablespoon Clove powder

Instructions
Melt the Base: Place the coconut oil in a heat-safe glass jar or container. Set the container in a warm water bath (a bowl of hot water) until the oil is completely liquid.

Combine Powders: Add the calcium powder, xylitol, sodium bicarbonate, and clove powder to the liquid oil.

Mix Thoroughly: Stir the mixture well while it is still warm. It is important to keep stirring for a minute or two to ensure the powders are evenly suspended and don’t all sink to the bottom.

Set the Paste: Place the container in the refrigerator to cool. This helps the coconut oil solidify quickly, “trapping” the powders in place for a consistent texture.

Usage: Once solid, you can store it at room temperature (unless your home is very warm, in which case the oil may melt). Use a small bamboo spatula or a clean spoon to apply a pea-sized amount to your toothbrush.
