Natural Air Freshener: Unlike synthetic sprays, these use pure essential oils, making them safer for sensitive respiratory systems.
Moisture Absorption: Coarse salt naturally draws in light humidity, which can help prevent that “musty” smell in enclosed spaces like gym bags or shoe boxes.
Long-Lasting: The salt helps “fix” the scent, allowing the aroma to linger much longer than if you simply sprayed the paper.
Aromatherapy on the Go: By choosing specific oils (like Lavender for calm or Lemon for focus), you can create a portable mood-booster.
DIY Scented Salt Pouch
This simple recipe focuses on “clean” ingredients and easy-to-find materials.
Ingredients
1/2 cup Coarse Sea Salt or Pink Himalayan Salt (the larger the grains, the better they hold the oil)
10โ15 drops of your favorite Essential Oil (e.g., Lavender, Eucalyptus, or Bergamot)
1 sheet of thick Paper (decorative wrapping paper, cardstock, or even a clean coffee filter)
Optional: A few dried flower buds (like lavender or rose) for extra visual appeal
Instructions
Scent the Salt: In a small glass bowl, combine the coarse salt and the essential oils. Stir them well with a wooden spoon or a glass rod until the salt is evenly coated. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the oil to be fully absorbed.
Prepare the Paper: Cut your paper into a square or rectangle. If you are using a coffee filter, you can leave it as is.
Create the Pouch: * Fold the paper in half.
Secure two of the open sides with glue or double-sided tape, leaving the top open like an envelope.
Fill: Spoon the scented salt into the paper pouch. Do not overfill; leave enough room at the top to seal it.
Seal: Glue or tape the final side shut. You can also punch a small hole at the top and thread a ribbon through it if you want to hang the sachet in a closet.
Refresh: When the scent begins to fade (usually after 3โ4 weeks), you can simply open the pouch and add a few more drops of oil directly to the salt.
