Recently, the world was taken aback by the news of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales candidly shared this unexpected turn of events, describing it as a “huge shock” for both her and Prince William.
In a heartfelt video shared on March 22, Middleton disclosed that while she was still recuperating from significant abdominal surgery in January, the medical team discovered cancer.
“My doctors recommended that I undergo a precautionary course of chemotherapy, and I am now at the beginning stage of that treatment,” she stated.
Kate Middleton, ever compassionate, expressed her solidarity with others battling cancer. “I am thinking of everyone whose lives have been touched by cancer,” she shared. “If you’re facing this illness, in any form, please hold on to hope. You are not alone.”
Earlier in January, Kensington Palace had announced that Middleton underwent planned abdominal surgery, explaining her absence from public duties until post-Easter.
Thankfully, by September 2024, Princess Catherine shared the uplifting news that she had concluded her chemotherapy treatment.
In a moving video featuring Prince William and their three childrenโPrince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince LouisโMiddleton shared an emotional message with the public.
“The journey through cancer is complicated, terrifying, and unpredictable for everyone involved, especially those nearest to your heart,” she expressed. “It brings you face to face with your own weaknesses in ways you never anticipated, offering a new outlook on life. This period has profoundly encouraged William and me to reflect on and appreciate the simple yet significant things we often overlookโsuch as loving and being loved.”
Understanding Princess Kate’s Cancer Situation
To date, neither Kate Middleton nor Kensington Palace have openly disclosed the specific type of cancer she faces.
A source told Us Weekly that Prince William and Middleton discovered her cancer diagnosis in late February, coinciding with Williamโs sudden absence from his godfatherโs memorial service.
“They wanted to reserve the announcement for a time when their children were on break so they could process this privately as a family before everyone began discussing it,” the source shared. “They arenโt specifying the kind of cancer it is.”
In insights shared with TMZ, Dr. George Crawford, who hasnโt directly treated the Princess, speculated that Middleton might be dealing with either uterine or ovarian cancer.
He mentioned that with cancers affecting the female reproductive system, such as uterine and ovarian cancer, patients often undergo surgery for what doctors initially suspect to be cysts or fibroids.
Dr. Crawford explained that usually, the true nature of these growths isn’t clear until they’ve been extracted and further examined.
“It’s likely they began with the impression they were addressing benign cysts or tissues, only to have pathology reveal the presence of cancer,” Dr. Crawford suggested. He indicated that the medical team might have adjusted their approach during the surgery upon rapid biopsy diagnosis.
Dr. Crawford explained that Middleton probably needed a solid four to six weeks to recover from her surgery before starting chemotherapy. Beginning the treatment prematurely could impose an overwhelming strain on even a healthy person’s body and immune defenses.
